I am in Oregon in a town that has an amazing old school ice cream parlor. You know what I’m talking about…the soda pulls, the swivel chairs hooked to a high counter, and a wall of glass jars filled with every sort of candy imaginable.
So, you could say, this week’s recipe was inspired by the soda fountains of the past. I mean, how long has it been since you had a float? One taste and you’ll be wondering why. I mean, don’t you think it’s due for a comeback?
Cheers to nostalgia and the last rays of summer!
Orasella’s Cherry Coke Float
Serves 1
1c ice cream
1t cinnamon
1/2c natural cola soda
1 1/2T Orasella cherry syrup (what’s left in the jar after you use your Orasella cherries)
1/2t vanilla
Whipped cream and Orasella cherry to top
Mix ice cream with cinnamon in a bowl. Scoop into 3 balls and place on a parchment lined plate. Put back in the freezer.
Pour soda, Orasella cherry syrup and vanilla into a high ball glass. Using a spoon, gently guide ice cream into the glass. Top with whipped cream and an Orasella cherry.
